Prevent etch marks, stains or scratches before they happen.
 

Routine Preventive Measures:

Granite Counter Top

Granite countertops are surprisingly resilient to stains, and practically impossible to scratch. But, as a preventative measure, blot (do not wipe) up any spills on the countertops within a reasonable amount of time. Don't let liquid sit on countertops overnight. Granite is most prone to staining by oil and acid, so blot these spills up soon after they happen, and then clean the stone with products created for stone care. Best preventive measure against stains is to seal granite countertop.

Marble Counter Top

Marble countertops and tabletops are not a good choice for kitchen, because they are easily stained by acidic foods like fruit, tomato sauce, coffee, and wine. However, if you already have marble countertop, be very careful in maintaining it.

Blot, do not wipe, any spills immediately, then clean with a neutral PH or stone care product. Always use coasters, pads or mats to place hot pots, dishware or containers. Use coasters under drinking glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices to avoid etching. Avoid cleaning products unless the label specifies it is safe for natural stone. 

Tips to remember about all stone countertops:

-- Pick up any spills as quickly as possible

-- Clean your kitchen countertop regularly with a stone safe cleaner (Stone Care Kit, Listo). Remember, it's very important to spray the cleaner and let it sit for a while to moisten and soften the soil, before scrubbing. LET THE CLEANING AGENT DO THE WORK! It will make your job much easier and will be more effective.

-- A properly sealed countertop will cause liquids to bead on the surface. Important! There is no IMPREGNATOR to resist acids, that's why use preventive coasters under glasses with wines and juices to avoid etching.
